Banksy, an unidentified British painter, graffiti artist, social activist, and filmmaker who calls himself an “art terrorist," is currently hosts the "BANKSY: STILL HERE" exhibition in The HYUNDAI SEOUL ALT.1, Yeouido. Started on July 22, this exhibition will end on November 3rd. This exhibition introduces Banksy's art world through his most significant paintings and projects. Famous for his works from the streets of mainly London and Bristol, this exhibition introduces his paintings through the silk-printing technique.
Personally, I know it's impossible to bring his painting on walls, but this exhibition was a little disappointing because most of the artworks are essentially screen-printed reproductions on paper. However, it was a good experience to find out about his paintings and installation artworks that I don't know. One of my favourite paintings is one in which Banksy pays homage to Jean-Michel Basquiat’s style. Even though they didn't draw it together, it feels like a collaborative work of Banksy and Basquiat.
Additionally, the interior design and the creative intention behind the exhibition were both very well executed. They actually tried to use realistic rock walls with several mouse paintings on them. The composition and the use of famous quotes that Banksy said go well with the explanations. These effects significantly helped me to focus on Banksy's world.
"The BANKSY: STILL HERE" exhibition will be open until November, as I mentioned earlier. I really do recommend visiting this exhibition if you are interested in Banksy or street art.
